Rincon Catering

I was privileged to attend an event at the Santa Barbara Zoo sponsored by Rincon Catering. It was their launch at the zoo because they are now the official caterers for zoo events.

I can sum it all up in one word...AMAZING.

The food was wonderful. I am a picky eater but I liked everything I tried. And my mom tried most of what I didn't try and she liked everything she tried! I ate way more than I should have ;)

I also ran into an old friend which was kinda cool. Also, the people who run the company are soooo nice.

So if you live in the Santa Barbara area, think about Rincon next time you need something catered.

Mosquito Eaters / Crane Flies

I see I am getting a lot of hits still from people looking up mosquito eaters (more accurately, crane flies).

Are people still having problems with these? Where we used to have like 20 a night fly in, now we MIGHT get one. I think they have mostly died off. Hopefully we are done with them until next year!

Weight

I finally figured out why my weight has been going up up up lately (basically, I gained back every pound I had lot...which was between 15 and 20)

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism last July. It's not so serious and very easily corrected with medication.

Well...my medication basically quit working, one of the side effects of which is weight gain.

So I went to the doctor on Monday after my weekend away and she wrote a new prescription for double the dosage!

She said being on the new dosage I will be able to lose the weight, but it won't just come off. I will have to re-diet and exercise like I did before...not just maintenance!

Needless to say I'm not thrilled...but what choice do I have? I can keep looking like this (not so bad but not to my liking) or I can re-lose all the weight.

I am trying really hard...wish me luck!

Family Visits

I am in Chicago for a Bat Mitzvah. Being around family is so amazing...nothing beats it!

My cousin was telling stories tonight at dinner...and it turns out my great-grandma and Al Capone were from the same neighborhood in Chicago...and they knew each other!

Crazy :)

Lying

How is it that some people seem to lie more than they tell the truth? Are some people just not in control of themselves? Or are they really just terrible people? I have heard of compulsive lying. Is this something uncontrollable?

People don't believe me when I say I almost always tell the truth. But if you know me well, you know I am honest and also very careful about how I phrase things. When people ask me questions I don't want to answer I try to avoid answering or answer with something unrelated LOL

Sorry for this mini-rant, I'm just tired of being lied to on a daily basis!

Lazy day

I don't have much planned today.

Right now I am hosting at www.eliters.com

Then we are taking my sister for pizza lunch (she hasn't had American pizza since September)

After that I am going to look at a bike (and hopefully buy it this time) followed by the gym.

And those are the end of my major plans.

I have a feeling my mom is going to con me into cleaning more.

Life on Mars

I record everything on my DVR so I just got to watching the season finale of Life on Mars. I was hoping the rumors of it not being renewed were untrue. But by the way they did the season finale, they didn't leave it anywhere to go next season.

Any pointers on how to not fall in love with shows that all end up cancelled? It stinks!
